Lixto 6.0 gives Faster Processing and Reduced Operating Costs to enhance Performance and Business Benefits

(Vienna, Austria) –  19 October 2009 – Lixto Software (www.lixto.com ), the Web Intelligence company, today announced the release of Version 6.0 of its Web Data Extraction Software Suite comprising the Lixto Visual Developer, the Lixto Transformation Server, the Lixto Load Balancer, and the Lixto Reporting Server.   Lixto 6.0 improves the performance of the company’s web extraction engine resulting in more lightweight extraction processes with reduced operating overheads and which at the same time delivers better results. The main building blocks of this performance improvement have been the integration of a new rendering engine and the switch to an improved XPath evaluation system.

By delivering improved system performance and reduced operating costs, Lixto 6.0 allows its users to run more extraction processes on the same infrastructure.   This is combined with the capability to deliver quicker results because Lixto 6.0 allows more processes to be run in parallel on the same hardware that supported the previous version of the solution.

According to Robert Baumgartner, VP of Research and Development at Lixto, “If the extraction program requires heavy XPath evaluations, we can observe dramatic improvements in terms of execution speed with Lixto 6.0.  In addition, as resource consumption is reduced at the same time, this gives our customers the opportunity to run more extraction programs concurrently on the same type of hardware, resulting in improved overall throughput.”

Lixto Suite 6.0 also sees the introduction of a new product, the Lixto Load Balancer (LB). This significant new function manages a pool of extraction servers and distributes the load of extraction processes onto available resources, which can reside either on-premise or within the cloud. Using cloud-based resources, Lixto LB is capable of scaling the pool of resources according to the current work load. For tracking the overall performance of the resource pool, Lixto LB features a user interface that allows for analysing the resource consumption and performance of all resources available.

For developers, Lixto 6.0 features new productivity features in the Lixto Visual Developer. “The new Web Element Actions are a tremendous improvement for our customers working with Lixto Visual Developer”, said Tymon Wiedemair, VP of Professional Services at Lixto. “Web Elements encapsulate typical user interface patterns of Web applications such as select lists, buttons, checkboxes, and textboxes and provide specific actions that manipulate these interface elements. Accessing and manipulating such elements on web pages is now very straightforward and complicated manipulation of arcane DOM elements is not required anymore, resulting in a noticeable productivity gain.”

Lixto 6.0 also reflects the company’s continuous efforts to further improve the value of its award winning software products. Lixto’s achievements are also recognised by leading industry analysts who have recently mentioned Lixto as one of the leading vendors of mash-up enablement tools and technology and featured the Lixto Online Market Intelligence solution in a dedicated report looking at this market.

Lixto Web Data Extraction Suite Version 6 is available immediately.
